Before exporting
Work through these checks using the actual edit, not only the opening seconds. When a check fails, return to that part of the recording before producing another output.
- Confirm the selected audio track is the one you want.
- Check the start and end of the export range.
- Listen across every join for cut-off words or abrupt changes.
- Keep pauses that carry meaning or a natural breath.
- Check the predicted peak after increasing gain.
- Confirm the output format fits the next app or listener.
After exporting
A successful export means a file was generated. It does not prove that the receiving app accepts it or that you selected the right passage. Check the downloaded result separately.
- Open the exported file in the player you plan to use.
- Check its beginning, a middle section and the ending.
- Confirm that the duration matches the edit you intended.
- Keep your original recording for future revisions.
Choose the correction that fits
If the last word is missing, inspect the range or nearby cut. If the wrong language is audible, check the selected track. If gain has introduced distortion, reduce it and export again from the source.
Use the companion edit decision log when several corrections are needed. It gives each change a source timecode and a review outcome, so “checked” means you actually listened to that edit.
