Record the source start and end time, the issue, a keep/cut decision and what you heard when reviewing the join. Use source timecodes consistently so later cuts do not change the meaning of your notes.
Use one row for one decision
An edit log helps when a recording contains repeated takes, several small mistakes or pauses you may want to keep. It is a set of notes, not a file that AudioCut imports or applies automatically.
Download the blank CSV and fill it in with your own spreadsheet or text editor. Keep it alongside the original recording. The website does not provide an online form or save the completed log.
| Field | Record | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Start time / End time | Position in the original source | 00:12.00 / 00:14.00 |
| Issue | What needs a decision | Repeated sentence |
| Decision | Keep or cut | Cut |
| Review result | What you checked afterwards | Join checked; next word intact |
Keep source time and edited time separate
Deleting a passage changes the position of later material on an edited timeline. A note saying “cut at 12 seconds” becomes ambiguous unless you know which timeline it refers to. Use the original recording’s timecodes in this template.
If you have a different source version, label that version in your own notes before making decisions. Do not assume two exports have the same timing simply because their names are similar.
Example decisions
The rows below illustrate the format; they are not an analysis of any user’s recording. A keep decision is useful too: it records that a pause was reviewed and deliberately retained.
| Source range | Issue | Decision | Review result |
|---|---|---|---|
| 00:12–00:14 | Repeated sentence | Cut | Join checked |
| 00:34–00:35 | Pause before answer | Keep | Natural pacing |
Review the edit, then mark the row
Apply the decision manually in the editor and listen before marking it reviewed. If the join cuts a word or changes the meaning, revise the range or keep the passage. A written decision does not replace that listening step.
Before closing the session, download the edited audio and save your notes outside the website. AudioCut does not persist the waveform session, and this CSV cannot recreate the edit automatically.
Questions about this task
Can AudioCut import this CSV and make the cuts?
No. It is a manual planning and review template, not an edit-command format.
Should I log useful pauses too?
Yes. A keep decision can explain why a pause remains and prevent it from being removed in a later review.
