If long gaps show up between answers, sentences or takes, use Silence Remover to find them by threshold and minimum duration.

Listen to the joins
A shorter file is not always a better edit. Keep padding around detected gaps, listen in Processed audio mode and check the joins before exporting MP3.

Two edits on the same kind of recording
Suppose a narration contains a repeated sentence and a long quiet wait before the next take. Manual trimming lets you select the repeated sentence because you know it is unwanted. Silence detection can find the quiet wait, but cannot identify the repeated words by meaning.
Make the semantic decision first: which take should remain? Then decide whether the pause needs shortening. Listen across each join. If the recording needs a particular pause for emphasis, keep it even when detection marks it as quiet.
To export only a short excerpt, set the export range separately from the deletion. Check both ends of that range; a correct middle cut does not protect a word outside the chosen export bounds.

Does trimming remove pauses in the middle of a recording?

Will the silence remover delete filler words?
Not by recognizing words. It detects quiet audio, so an audible filler word is not the same as silence.
Can I undo an edit?
